Can you play paintball with an airsoft gun?
I have a Tippmann A-5 with all sorts of upgrades, and I wanted
to buy a pistol. I almost bought a desert eagle but the I stumbled on this airsoft sport. I have never heard of it before and some of the guns are amazing! It looks like a blast to play, but can I use an airsoft pistol and still play paintball?
You can find decent paintball side arms. I myself bought one, but I rarely use it now. As far as airsoft goes, it is a cheap rip off of paintball. Everyone in my paintball club makes fun of airsoft. The paint rounds you can buy for airsoft guns are crap. They wont break as easy on soft surfaces than paintball, so you have to shoot them at higher speed. Plus, you wouldn't be able to use airsoft on a paintball field. Also they leave a tiny dime shaped mark, at best. Paintballs leave an easily spotted mark. Plus, paintball guns are designed to shoot paintballs. Airsoft guns aren't generally easy to clean and maintain, and how many 'airsoft shops' are around to buy specific parts from? The only benefit to airsoft, is realistic gun models, which is merely a cosmetic thing. Fortunately, the paintball companies are beginning to recognize the large number of us woodsball players, and thus, designing more realistic gun models. The future of paintball is MUCH brighter than airsoft. Many kids get turned to airsoft, because they are told paintball hurts less. You go to an airsoft tournament, and they are shooting at 350 fps or more. Paintball fields are usually 280 or 300 fps. So I would stick with your A-5 (good gun by the way) and stay away from little 12 year olds playing with plastic BB guns. Airsoft is UNCOMPARABLE with the greatest sport ever.
