PAINTBALL GUN SALE

Need help on everything about paintball?

The only thing I'm set on us the marker
Spyder rsx

I don't want to buy and low or intermidiate marker and have to upgrade later.

But everything else I don't know. I have been going through a lot of forums but can't find my answers. I have never paintballed so I'm new at this.

I read the rsx is pretty much ready to go out of the box, but i want mine to be good.

Things I need help on:

HPA tanks
Drop downs (do I need these)
Feedneck
Hoppers
Barrels
Tubes for paint
Vest for the tubes
Goggles
Clothing
45 degree elbows
Sights

I know most of your suggestions will be from preference, but your the one with the experience.

As for pricing, I have a budget of about 500 for everything.

Thanks for the help.

HPA tank - there's for $50 or carbon fiber tanks for $150-200. The difference is carbon fiber tanks are lighter & come in both 3000 psi & 4500 psi (even a 5000 psi is available). Higher the psi means more air can be compressed inside. There's also sizes like 45 ci, 68 ci, etc, that pertain to the physical size of the tank. So a 45 ci tank is noticably smaller but also holds less air than a 68, 72, etc. You first need to know what you can afford, then decide from there.

Drop Downs - it's debatable whether these are good or not. Some people say it helps since it moves the tank forward, providing a more balanced setup, but others say it only hinders the player as the "proper" way to hold the gun is with the tank pressed against your shoulder like a butt stock and you can't do that if it's too far forward. I'd say use the gun without one first and see what you think.

Feedneck - don't worry about it. The RSX comes with a twist-lock clamping one so it's pointless to upgrade unless you want a lever-lock clamping one instead.

Hopper - electronic is the way to go. Halo B, Reloader B, Vlocity or Vlocity Jr, any of those i'd recommend. You could probably be fine with an Evolution 2 or 3 but they're back-heavy so their necks tend to break eventually.

Barrel - try the stock one first. It might be better than people say, as a lot of people tend to blame the barrel when either they just suck at aiming or their paint is crappy. So try it with good paint (like don't shoot Walmart paint - Visible Impact is the best stuff they carry but it's still low on the quality list).

Tubes or Pods - get whatever. I love Fatboy pods (made by Angel) but they're not the cheapest unless they're on sale (i found a sale online years ago and stocked up on em). Dye Locklids are kinda too fancy for pods, and too pricey. Pods are something you can't expect to keep forever - they break, get lost, stolen, etc. So go cheap.

Vest - um, vest? Like Milsim/Scenario/Woodsball or do you mean a pod pack/harness? NXe makes the best pod packs in my opinion (i use an NXe Elevation).

Goggles - JT Proflex is my preference. VForce makes good masks too. Spend at least $50 in this area, as the mask is the most important piece of equipment. It has to be comfortable enough for you to wear at anytime, anywhere. You should not want to take it off, ever, as you won't be able to when playing.

Clothing - not that important but i recommend pants & long sleeves. Dress comfortable but not restrictive. Jeans are restrictive, for example, and so is doubling up on layers. Also, don't wear flimsy clothes like track suits. Remember, you'll be crawling around, running, sliding, diving, getting shot at, etc. Dress appropriately. I'd recommend getting paintball-specific pants but everything else you can wear whatever.

45 degree elbows - say what? You mean the feedneck elbows? Don't need those, you've got a clamping feedneck.

Sights - useless in paintball. A paintball doesn't fly nearly as straight as a bullet, no matter what quality the barrel or paint. It's a gelatin ball filled with colored liquid, no one can expect that to fly straight. So whatever the sight sees won't necessarily get hit.

Does that $500 include the gun, too? Then you've got a lot of money to work with. The RSX can be found for $180 new, you could get a carbon fiber tank for $150 (Ninja & Guerrilla both make carbon fiber tanks for that price). Good mask is about $60-80, hoppers i mentioned range from $60-100, pods are $2-3 each (less if you buy in bulk), pack/harness is $40-60, pants are $40-100.

I agree with TheDude on playing with rental gear before buying your own, but i bought all my own gear before ever setting foot on a field and love it to this day.
