How do i go about setting up a paintball field?

I am wishing to open up a paintball field in Northern Ireland. I have a large area of suitable land which is well placed nearby to a few towns.

If anyone has any experience/knowledge of what is required & any prices, e.g.
-Insurance
-Licence/Permits
-Equipment & equipment maintenance
-Cleaning of kits etc.
-Paintball netting
-Anything else you know/think of

first off check with local and government regulations. make sure its even allowed if not then stop now. as far as insurance goes contact a local insurance agent and they will be able to point you in the right direction. prices vary everywhere. equipment contact companies like Key action sports or american paintball supply or even one that is in europe they will have field start packages. the number of fields i have helped to start i always steared them towards Tippman model 98's they are the most durable gun available and are easy to work on. your renters will have to work to destroy them. as far as maintenance goes you can take manufacturers training courses for what ever equipment you buy. try to find a big tourney or big scenario game near you. they will usually hold training classes at those events. there is also companies that make paintball netting, however i would suggest trying to contact a company that makes awnings it will be cheaper and they can get and cut the same material. just remember there is not a lot of money in paintball you get into the business cause you love it. dont get me wrong you can make a profit just not a big one. and it does take a good amount of capitol to get going. cost of a case of rec grade paint is somewhere between $30-35 US and can sell it for about $60 US per case selling them in 100 rnd bags you can make a little more. paint is where you make most of your money. rentals doesn't bring much money when its all said and done. so whatever you control the paint on your field and make sure people are only shooting your paint! good luck!
