Paintball: I'm about to purchase CP regulator. Which one should I get? Low or High pressure?

I have ION XE and I use 68ci 4500psi tank.

When you say you're buying a reg, are you buying one for the Ion or the HPA tank?

The Ion is a low pressure operated marker and so you'd want a reg that can effectively regulate the pressure at 180psi.

If you're buying a reg for your tank you could buy either a low pressure output or a high pressure output reg, as the Ion has a low pressure reg that will limit the pressure to what it requires. However, if you were to buy a low pressure reg for your tank, you will only be able to effectively use it on low pressure operated markers. Thus, I recommend you buy a high pressure output reg for your tank.

The port on the reg is for screwing on a psi gauge. You don't need to buy one with the port, but it would be easier to adjust the reg to the required pressure of the marker if you have a gauge and if it is a tank reg you are buying then the psi gauge will inform you of your pressure in the tank so you know before hand when your going to be running very low on air.
