Viewloader orion paintball gun.. can't put on co2 tank.. sprays co2 if i try?

I have a viewloader orion paintball gun.. i bought it two-three years ago and soon as i bought it and a new 20oz "pure energy" co2 tank i tried to put the co2 tank on after i had it filled and it constantly sprayed co2 everywhere...
ever since then i just stored it in my closet for a few years.. the paintball gun has never shot a paintball in its life.i noticed a sticker when i first got it thats on the marker that says, "USE ONLY BRASS EAGLE CYLINDERS" but would that really why co2 shoots everywhere when im trying to thread my filled "PURE ENERGY" co2 tank in..
it seems like the tank threads in perfectly to me?

is the co2 tank o-ring still there? it should be at the upper part of the the co2 tank
