Go with the Proto,

Smart Parts as a company has shut down operations so any Ion you purchase will only have the support of the store that sold it to you, likewise for availability of repair parts. If you're handy and don't mind scouring the Internet, then that won't matter but if you're not... Like I said, go with the Proto.

As far as the Freak Barrels are concerned, I run a full Freak with an All American front. the only difference between it an a Freak Jr. is the three inserts provided with the junior are for larger bore sizes. My full kit goes down to .672" the Jr. .687". I've been running the Freak for around five years and if I can see any part of you, you're going to the dead box. I shoot an Autococker or a bone stock Ion. Your marker is only as accurate as your hands are steady.
